Land Acknowledgement

Alberta Counselling Centre acknowledges that we are located in Moh’kins’tsis (Calgary), on the traditional and ancestral territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy, including the Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani First Nations. We also recognize the Tsuut’ina Nation and the Îyârhe Nakoda Nations, including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations, whose traditional territories are within the Treaty 7 region.

We acknowledge the Treaty 7 relationship and the enduring connections that First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples have with these lands since time immemorial. We recognize the Métis people and their historic and continuing presence in this region, as well as all Indigenous peoples who call this community home.

As a counselling practice, we recognize the importance of listening, respect, cultural humility, and understanding the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization. We are committed to creating a welcoming and respectful environment for Indigenous clients and families, and to continuing our learning as we work toward meaningful relationships, understanding, and reconciliation.
